Neal STEM Magnet : Focus on Math & Science

The magnet program at Neal provides opportunities for all students to experience highly engaging coursework in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with a special emphasis on the Engineering and Design.

Features of the magnet school include:

  • Multiple coursework opportunities in STEM focus areas such as Project Lead the Way elective courses: Flight and Space, Magic of Electrons, Energy and the Environment, Design and Modeling, and Robotics
  • Incorporation of the Engineering Design Process as a common problem-solving strategy in all subject areas
  • Partnerships with corporate and community experts in the fields of STEM including: Lenovo, Cisco, Duke University, NC New Schools Project among others
  • Partnering STEM program at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability for interested students to continue their pursuit of 21st century skills and college and career preparation during their high school years

Students residing in Neal's attendance zone and students currently attending Neal do not need to apply for a lottery seat.

District wide Pathway Model (Pathway model is defined as students will be transported to and from their base school to the assigned school.  Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the base school.)
